Now, the fun doesn't stop there. Don't forget that Ms. Bonnie Lynn is going to games, and is ranked #1 in the WORLD in her division. That's right, folks, in the WORLD! Is there more? The answer is yes! Fellow Synapster Chase Kiecke, pretty much the coolest person on the planet, made regionals while on deployment in Afghanistan! Does this make him better than us? Of course it does, it's Chase! And of course, last, and definitely not least, the Danimal himself, Coach Dan made regionals with his team. He had a great showing, and I am very proud of him. Dan, if you're reading this, we all love and miss you dearly and want nothing but the best for you. Now, call up Chase so both y'all bad mutha f'ers can go AWOL and come back to Synapse.
Now, enough with all that show of emotion, time to get down to it. Now, I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that Synapse is run unlike any other Crossfit facility. Perhaps the biggest difference being that we do not get all "Crossfitty" with you. We do not push the "Crossfit Mentality", and we usually talk about other things that do not relate to Crossfit in class. In all honesty, I wouldn't have it any other way. I mean hell, where else can you show up and have awesome people help you with your accounting or engineering homework? Now, don't get it twisted, I absolutely love that y'all get jazzed up over coming to the gym(I NEVER say "box") to work on skills and get stronger. I love that!! I love that setting a new PR on any lift gets everyone super excited. The amount of support at Synapse is incredible! I love how much everyone supports one another.
Now, why do I bring this up? Well, I just want you to know that this is the result of not pushing this whole "I have to be the best at Crossfit" mentality. Synapse is a place where you come to get stronger, faster, sexier (let's be honest, it's mostly about vanity), and blow off all of the stresses of everyday life. This isn't the place to build your ego; you check that shit at the door. The second you think you're better than anyone is the second you've lost all perspective. That mentality is unhealthy and stupid. Use others for motivation, never validation. Some crossfitters think that we shy away from competition. If you believe that, then you have not been paying attention. I don't care how many pairs of inov8s, high socks, or WODCrap t-shirts you own; your socks won't make you snatch more, and knowing Squatty McCrossfitty's stats won't fix your jerk. Don't kid yourselves, reading every Crossfit Blog on the planet, especially "Famous" Crossfit's blog on how Crossfit shirts make you a winner, is almost useless. Want to get better? Then spend that time stretching or lifting. You're welcome, i just saved you a million hours worth of research. Y'all are already doing everything you need to be doing in order to get better. We program the way we do in order to lay the groundwork for you to become more competitive should you choose to. We like to goof off a lot, but when it's time to compete, we are competitive. Everything from solo/team competitions to regionals, we are right up there with the best of them; and we do this on four workouts a week, not two workouts every day. Now, if anyone still thinks we aren't competitive, don't know what we're doing, or disagrees with our methods, read the first two paragraphs one more time, then find out which other gyms have accomplished what we have.
