When you sign up, though, what may not be completely evident at the time is that no one can do these things FOR you. You have to take them for yourself. This is crucial when it comes to training.
In order for ANY program to work, you must have a goal. I urge all of you to take a hard look at where you are and where you want to be. I also urge you to set goals that relate to INNER transformation, not just outer. Focus your goals on what will bring you satisfaction and fulfillment, not just momentary happiness. What kind of person do you want to be? What kind of person are you?
Someone once told me that who you are in the gym translates directly to who you are outside of the gym.
Are you someone that rushes through their workout whether or not your movements have integrity, in order to win or finish faster? Do you skip movements or consistently think negatively about movements that are hard or you’re not good at? Do you prioritize mobility to help movements that you have trouble with? Do you fail in order to gain attention? Do you come every day going through the motions simply expecting your goals to fall into your lap? While most of you may not think any of these apply to you, at some point, we have all done these things. I have, and you have.
Here is my advice: Train your choices.
Choose to complete every rep with integrity and purpose. Choose to remember and apply corrections you have been told last week, not just today. Choose to fix your technique, even when it makes it harder. Choose to not put fake food in your body. Train your choices to take some pride in you and your life, your goals, your children, your gym.
Empowerment means taking responsibility for your actions and choices. Sometimes in life we have to eat our proverbial vegetables. It may not be the most fun or exciting choice, but it’s the right one if it takes you to where you want to be. There is no dishonesty in empowerment. If you have a goal, and you consistently make choices away from that goal, perhaps you don’t actually want that goal. Perhaps you prioritize something over your goal, whether it be consciously or unconsciously.
Be honest with yourself, be honest with us. If you want something, and you’re willing to put in the hard work, make the tough choices, and build your strength of character, we’ll help you get there.
Today starts a new cycle- the perfect time to re-prioritize, set some goals, and start making choices that will get you to where you need to be. Let’s give it 100% together.
