1. Saturday now has two classes! 9am and 10am. Come to either or both! They're both going to be doggone awesome.
2. Did you compete last weekend in our in-house competition? Remember how hard it was? Come support Bonnie and Claudia in the Diamond of the Tough Masters competition in Monrovia on Saturday, February 23rd. There's a carpool sign up sheet at the gym. Cheer 'em on and watch them exercise faster than other exercisers!
3. Allison wants to go hiking every couple weeks on Sundays. She's not an expert. She just wants to go. If you want to go with her, meet at the gym before the end of Sunday class. The next hike will be February 24th. These aren't strenuous hikes- Jax will be doing them too. Let's get outside!
And now...on to the good stuff.
I had an absolute blast at our competition last Saturday. There were so many people that pushed themselves to compete, and many newcomers to the competition crossfit world. I personally want to congratulate all of you who made that first step and went outside of your comfort zone to do something great for yourself and your gym. The place was ALIVE on Saturday. There were so many people that came to watch. Everyone was applauding, following the reps, and cheering each other on. It was MAGICAL.
There were so many awesome moments I'd like to point out:
5. Dianna's clean and jerks that were 5 pounds under her max. She repped 'em out like a boss during the first wod. Same with Dani's snatches. She had to do 50 reps at just 10 pounds under her max. BALLER STATUS.
4. Shannon's butterfly pullups that he just decided to whip out for competition day. Not only did he and Linda tie for first place and have to go through a tie breaker, he decided just to start butterflying his pullups. Watch out for this one guys, he's got a muscle up now too...
3. Everyone cheering on Vartan during his snatches. It was kind of amazing watching the gym and the spectators rally around him and Liz in their last wod. Those last few snatches went up by pure will power, and that's a beautiful thing.
2. The met-condiments. Best costume ever, hands down. We're using this for regionals. Start thinking of your condiment NOW.
1. The entire gym pushing little Toni to push Fernando on the sled. What a moment. It's never been so loud in this gym, all for 50 feet of sled push.
I am so proud of everyone that competed, watched, yelled, helped change weights, judged, cheered. I love this gym because of its members, and because you guys pull stuff out like THIS and help make moments like those.
Who's in for the next one?
